OHNI 2020 Calendar of Events

2020 is shaping up to be an exciting year for OHNI with a number of new events being added to our annual calendar alongside our always popular annual conference. We have tried to spread these events across the country so OHNI really is coming to a venue near you!

Please find attached below a list of our events for 2020. Members will be able to avail of special discounted rates for all our events and they will also have access to our online discussion forum.

This year’s conference is on the theme of Storytelling and Oral History and will take place in Maynooth on 19th & 20th June. Plans are well under way and we hope to have more details for you over the coming weeks.

This year we will also be offering more oral history training workshops around the country. Introductory workshops are scheduled for Dublin in Spring and Galway in Autumn. We will also run an Ethics in Oral History workshop in Cork, an Interview Skills workshop in Derry City, and our new Archiving Oral History workshop in Gorey, Co Wexford. However, if your organisation or group would like to arrange a separate training workshop then please do get in touch with us and we will try to facilitate this.

We are also running a number of OHNI Members-Only Networking Events. These free half-day events are designed simply as an opportunity for OHNI members to meet informally with one another outside of the confines of our conference settings where you can share ideas, talk about your projects and get to know other people in your area involved in oral history. This year we are holding the following: Boyle Library, Co Roscommon; Tralee Library, Co Kerry; the Ormonde Hotel, Kilkenny and Armagh City, but members are welcome to attend any (or all) of these.

Finally, we will have our annual lecture in the closing stages of the year, and we will of course circulate more details of this at a later date.

Obviously, none of the above is possible without the continued support of our membership, so we do encourage you to become a member and as always if you have suggestions for improvements, other events or questions we would love to hear from you via  info@oralhistorynetworkireland.ie or through our social media pages.
